The first shipment was due to arrive in the next hour. The night before had been hectic, if not tense. Some new personnel had been assigned to the border patrol and those naive hot heads were still drunk with the idealised notion of service to motherland. They irritated Jaguda in no small measure. “You still see these fools here and there, despite the reality on ground”, Jaguda would always mutter to himself upon any chance encounter with such breed of individuals. They reminded him of a long dead version of himself, very quickly buried alive or ripped to shreds in the “eat or be eaten” reality that had shaped Jaguda’s world view.
Last night had therefore tested his patience to its utmost limit and it took all of Jaguda’s willpower not to quickly dispose of those mosquitoes who surprisingly and on their part, unknowingly, threatened to scupper the entire mission thus implying huge monetary losses besides other business costs. It would however have been an ill advised move to even quietly dispose of these wide eyed officials, albeit only a few of them posed a problem. A lot of international attention had been drawn lately to those trade routes due, in no small part, to the escalating violence perpetuated by increasingly greedy morons who, to Jaguda’s chagrin, saw themselves as his fellow businessmen.
